Field Tile Drain Repair & Installation in Champaign County, OH

Much of Champaign, Logan, and Union County farmland only drains because somebody laid clay tile in it a century ago. When that tile collapses, you get a wet spot that drowns the crop, floods a yard, or saturates a septic field.

We locate blown tile, dig it up, and replace the failed run with modern perforated HDPE. We also install new drainage on ground that never had it, for fields, pastures, yards, arenas, and building sites.

Drainage is often the actual fix for what looks like a septic problem. If your drain field is sitting in groundwater that has nowhere to go, a new septic system will fail the same way the old one did.

How it goes

The sequence, step by step.

You should know what happens next at every stage. Here is how we run this job.

  1. 01

    Find the failure

We trace the run from the outlet back, using the wet pattern and probing to pin down where the tile has collapsed or plugged.

  2. 02

    Open and assess

Excavate the failure point. Sometimes it is one crushed section; sometimes the whole run has silted in and needs replacing.

  3. 03

    Replace with HDPE

Modern perforated pipe on proper grade, sock-wrapped where soil conditions call for it, stone-bedded so it does not silt back in.

  4. 04

    Verify flow and restore

We confirm the outlet is running, then backfill, compact, and restore the surface.

Common questions

Tile Drain Repair & Replacement FAQ

Real answers, including the numbers people actually want.

The classic sign is a wet spot that returns in the same place every year, often in a line, sometimes with a soft depression or a small sinkhole above the failed section. A tile outlet that used to run steadily and now barely trickles is another strong indicator.

A single failure point excavated and repaired is usually a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars. Replacing a long silted-in run or installing new pattern tile across acreage is priced by the foot. We quote after locating the problem, because guessing costs you money.

Absolutely, and it is one of the most commonly missed causes. A leach field can only work if the soil beneath it can accept water. If groundwater is sitting in that soil, the field has nowhere to discharge and it backs up. Fixing the drainage sometimes saves a system people were told to replace.

Yes. We install new field tile, pattern tile, French drains, curtain drains, and surface inlets on ground that never had drainage, for farms, homes, arenas, and building sites.
