Excavation & Grading
Excavation Contractor in Urbana & Champaign County, Ohio
Excavation is the foundation of every other service we offer, and it is the work we have the most machines and hours behind. If it involves moving dirt on a Central Ohio property, we can usually do it.
We own our excavators, skid steers, dozers, and dump trucks. That matters more than it sounds: we are not renting equipment by the day, so we can price honestly and we can come back for a half-day punch item without it becoming a whole mobilization charge.

How it goes
The sequence, step by step.
You should know what happens next at every stage. Here is how we run this job.
- 01
Walk the site
We look at access, slope, soil, and where the water goes. Most excavation problems are water problems in disguise.
- 02
Locates and staking
OUPS 811 called, existing utilities marked, and the work staked so everyone agrees on where the dirt is going before we start.
- 03
Move the dirt
Our machines, our trucks, our crew. Cut, fill, haul in, or haul off as the job requires.
- 04
Finish and stabilize
Final grade, erosion control, and seeding so the site does not wash the first time it rains.

Common questions
General Excavation FAQ
Real answers, including the numbers people actually want.
Hourly rates for an operated machine depend on the machine and whether trucking is included. For most defined jobs we quote a fixed price instead, because that puts the risk of a slow day on us rather than on you. Call for a free estimate and we will tell you which pricing makes sense for your job.
Yes. A half-day of dirt work is a real job to us. Because we own our equipment rather than renting it, small jobs do not carry the mobilization penalty they do with larger outfits.
Yes. We run our own dump trucks, so haul-off and haul-in are handled by the same crew doing the excavation.
Yes. We dig new ponds, clean out silted-in ponds, and repair dams and spillways. Note that some pond work near regulated waterways requires permitting. We will flag that during the site visit.
